Vicar sees life from the other side of the pulpit.

I did something very unusual last Sunday - I went to a different church, with no particular ‘job’ in the service and no reason to be there except to worship and be with fellow Christians.

For a vicar, this is a very rare state of affairs; it was almost like being normal. It meant I listened to things and enjoyed the service differently. It was an eye opening experience and a thought provoking one, too!

The people were incredibly friendly, prayers beautifully written, sermon very good and the Bible readings gave me much to consider.

It did make me wonder what most people think of our churches - over the past few weeks I have had some really positive comments about East Devon’s church life, but realise we have a lot to learn and things that may need to change. What would you expect or hope for from a church community?
