Everyone did at the Seaton Mad Hatters Tea Party!
Seaton’s Voice had plenty to shout about after its successful appeal for crockery – so it threw a party to celebrate.
The go-ahead community group, which runs events at the town hall, was overwhelmed by the response to its request for plates, cups and saucers to use at its afternoon cream teas.
And to show off the beautiful vintage china donated by the community members decided to stage a free Mad Hatters tea party.
Everyone was invited to go along, sporting their craziest headgear and taking food for the table.
Windsor Gardens was transformed into a “wonderland” with bunting made by the local knit and natter group, hundreds of flowers on the shelter and trees and beautiful artwork created by local people.
Musicians entertained and children enjoyed the Giant Jenga, Connect Four and giant chalks, all for free.
The Seaton’s Voice team, who were all dressed in character, served refreshments.
A spokeswoman said: “We were thrilled with the response from the community and passing visitors who joined in with the locals to enjoy the party. Judging by the thank-you notes and emails asking when we can have another one it looks set to become an annual town event!”
