The incident, involving two cars, happened on the B3261 between the A35 and Axminster, at around 7.45am today (Wednesday).

The woman driver has been taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol.

Paramedics treated two casualties who were seriously injured and trapped in their vehicles. Police say there is no update on the second casualty.

Police, firefighters and two air ambulances were called to the scene. The Highways Agency is assisting with road closures.

The road is closed from the off-slip on the A35 and the start of the B3261, to the end of Axminster roundabout near the train station.
