Second victim remains in a critical condition at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol

A 45-year-old Axminster woman has died following this morning’s (Wednesday March 19) two car crash just outside the town.

She was the driver and sole occupant of a silver Ford Focus which was in collision with a Toyota Rav4 whose 56-year-old driver was taken to Bristol’s Frenchay Hospital where police described her condition as critical. She was also alone in her vehicle.

Two air ambulances were called to the scene on the B3261 - Trafalgar Way - where both drivers were trapped in their vehicles -

at around 8am

The road has been closed from the Gammons Hill turning off the A35 to the Tesco roundabout for most of the day although at 3pm police said that it was expected to reopen soon.
