An elderly woman was airlifted to hospital after a collision on the A30 between Monkton and Honiton.

The incident happened last Friday, at around 1.55pm, and involved two vehicles - a Nissan Micra and Ford Galaxy.

Police say the elderly woman in a Nissan Micra sustained serious leg injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital. The five occupants of the Ford Galaxy were described as ‘walking wounded’.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire crews released a female from one of the vehicles using hydraulic rescue equipment. The casualty was then taken to hospital by air ambulance.”

Police, fire, ambulance and air ambulance attended the scene.
