Colyton Grammar School student praised for his colourful sail
A Colyton Grammar School student’s design for a yacht sail has been praised by judges.
Sixteen-year-old Thomas Chamberlain-Keen’s entry in The Fine Arts Sails competition was highly commended.
The contest challenged students to create a design for a sail which will be unveiled at the opening of the Weymouth Sailing Foundation in memory of Olympic yachtsman Andrew Simpson.
Although narrowly missing out on winning his age category, Thomas was delighted with the praise for his design which he said was “inspired by the sea”.
Aware of Weymouth’s staging of the Olympic sailing events in 2012, Thomas added: “I tried to incorporate an Olympic theme, which was great fun to design.”
