I fished with Honiton SAC on their monthly species hunt out of Beer and scored a credible 140 points, giving me second place on the boat, on what was an uncomfortable day in a big swell, writes John Sherlock.
Fish landed on the day included Ballan Wrasse, Cuckoo Wrasse, Pout, Whiting, Dogfish, Thornback Rays and Smoothhounds. Lyme Bay holds many species and always seems to produce fish when elsewhere can be difficult.
Beach fishing continues to be hard on the south coast but for those prepared to travel Ray can be expected from the north coast as shown by Wayne Hand on a recent session. At another mark on a different day, he also landed a good Bass which of course was returned.
Boat fishing seems quite reasonable and Matt Forrester took a client out on the wrecks to try their hand at slow pitch Jigging with the best fish of the day being a 15lbs Pollack.
