AVR October junior handicap success for Peter Johns

Peter Johns was the winner of the AVR October Junior handicap in a time of 14:34, writes Dave Mutter.

Second, in a time of 16:48, was Harvey Burrough and Erin Ellis claimed third place in a time of 16:19.

Maddie Carter leads the junior rankings with 107 points followed by Harvey Burrough, 99, and Harry McMahon, 96.

Mark Spraggs won the senior handicap in a time of 28:34 with Julie Burrough finishing second in 28:14 and third was Tim Sibley, 23:15.

David Cooke leads the senior standings with 119 points, closely followed by Matt Hewer, 118, and Eleanor Wood, 113.

Halfway through her London Marathon 2018 training journey, Sarah Herfet’s immediate challenge was the Bournemouth half marathon.

Not content with her previous personal (PB) best of 2:06, she ran, she pushed and she smashed it, finishing in 1:58:49 - a full seven minutes off her PB!

Oliver Thorogood of Aberystwyth AC won the latest edition of the Seaton Parkrun in a time of 18:10.

Honiton RC’s Kevin Hawker was second in 18:52 and third was James Campbell of Purbeck Runners, 19:00. AVR’s Eleanor Wood was the first lady home, finishing 15th overall in 22:21.
