Five AVRs joined over 900 competitors in the well-run and welcoming Bridgwater Half Marathon and 10k events organised in support of Cancer Research UK, writes Dave Mutter.

A cool, cloudy start that was perfect for running soon turned into sunshine and 25 degrees centigrade!

In the half marathon, Joel Seward was first AVR back, finishing 50th overall (out of 326 runners) in a fantastic time and new PB of 1:35:45.

Kevin Feeney was 110th and 6th male vintage runner (what, like an old banger!) with a PB of 1:48:36.

Jacqui Stokes finished in 2:21:36 and Sandra Mortimer finished her first ever half marathon in 2:21:37. In the 10k event Sarah Shepley took five minutes off her former PB with a time of 53:53. She was 63rd out of 212 runners and was fifth female super veteran.
