On a distinctly autumnal Sunday morning, six AVRs competed in the sixth Running Forever Running Club Herepath Half Marathon, a demanding and beautiful 13.7-mile course through the parish of Neroche that includes the highest point in the Blackdown Hills AONB, writes Dave Mutter.

Matt Clist won the race in fine style, equalling the course record of 1:28:56. Rob Collier came in fourth with his time being 1:36:34 and Matt Hewer was seventh in 1:38:01.

In what was a friendly and well-organised event, other AVR times and finishers were: Eleanor Wood, 54th, 1:57:40; Steve Haines, 68th, 2:03:06 and Kevin Feeney, 74th, 2:07:50. Race entry fees and sales of tea, coffee and delicious cakes raised over £1,000 for Thurlbear Primary School PTA.

Tom Green of Ealing Eagles RC won the latest Seaton Parkrun in 18:24 with Honiton RC’s Adam Hennessey taking second place in 18:37 and Jon Duncanson, of Ealing Eagles RC, was third in 18:56.

Cecily Day of Ranelagh Runners was the first female, 16th overall in 21:11, with Rachael Moss finishing as second female, 24th overall in 21:56 and Chloe Burridge was third female and 26th overall with her time being, 22:24.

The Trellech Beacon Dash is a remote 10km multi-terrain race through the stunning autumnal woodlands of Monmouthshire. Much of the first two miles is uphill with 400ft of ascent to reach the Beacon followed by a fairly flat or downhill route to the finish through muddy forestry track, woodland trails and farmland. There were 185 finishers with Richard Hale 95th in 53:17.
