AVR athlete Clyst wins Crewkerne RCs Haselbury Trail 10k

Eight AVRs enjoyed a superb evening’s run at the 26th running of Crewkerne Running Club’s Haselbury Trail 10K multi-terrain race, writes Dave Mutter.

Phil Bayliss ran in the very first one, where everyone took the wrong course as a marker was missing a lot of the competitors ended up going up the railway line heading towards Waterloo, but thankfully all managed to get to the finish.

This year AVRs Matt Clist won in 38:34 and Lin Lascelles also won the ladies event, she was 18th overall in 44:56.

A slightly older now Phil Bayliss was the first M60, 23rd overall, 46:16 and Joshua Hopson had a fine debut run finishing 29th, 47:30. Eleanor Wood was third Lady, 36th overall, 48:52; Mark Hilder 53rd, 52.02 and Paul Hampton 84th, 62:07.

Sue Venn and Gary Reading had a ding dong battle, with Sue eventually pulling away to finish 101st, 67.10 with Gary two places adrift in 68.38.
