AVR trio run well at Bideford Half Marathon.

21:11 05 March 2014

A trio of AVRs in the shape of Graham and Diane Newton and Michelle Bee took on the Bideford Half Marathon last weekend for a bit of pre-London /Manchester Marathon training, writes Dave Mutter.

This north Devon undulating race along the river to Torrington and back along the Tarka Trail has been run for over 20 years and attracts over 1500 runners from all over the country.

The morning drizzle stopped just before the race started, leaving the overcast conditions and slight headwind in places almost ideal for running.

First back was Graham, posting a PB of 1:32:32.

Not only did he beat his previous best by three minutes, but also took first prize in the Over 65 Veteran category.

Michelle also achieved a half marathon PB with 2:08:35 knocking two minutes off her previous best time. Diane just missed a PB by 21 seconds crossing the line in 2:14:09.
