The Axe Cliff ‘Player of the Year’ for 2017, Brian Thompson, has taken his form into 2018 and made a terrific start to the new year, writes Dave Bruce.

On a cold January morning, Brian once again showed his class to win the January medal with an amazing net 67.

However, he did not have things all his own way, for Bill Polley was close on his heels throughout to come second with a terrific 68.

That score would have been even better had his putt on the last hole dropped in!

The aforementioned pair have clearly made a great start to the year, but another to watch is a young Bob Graham, who has taken on the job of vice-captain this year, and he scored a very good net 70. Bob also got a lucky two with Robbie Robinson’s two never looking in doubt!
