Axminster indoor bowlers began a new campaign with the official opening of the rinks by club president Norman Copland, writes David Harris.

The opening was followed by a Roll-up enjoyed by a god turnout of 24 members.

There have been two early season mixed friendly matches played and both proved to be close encounters.

First up, a visit fro Honiton saw the home side narrowly beaten 55-47. The winning Axminster rink was the one of Philippa White, Gill Campbell, David Harris, and George Mabon, who won 20-15.

That reversal was followed by a successful visit to Sidmouth where Axminster won 56-50. The winning Sidmouth rink was the one of Morrison Brown, Gill Campbell, David Harris, and Nigel Bond, who enjoyed a 30-12 success.

The club also held a successful Open day from which it is hoped a number of new members have been recruited and many thanks are due to then members who tuned out to make the event such a good one.
