There was no joy for any of the three Axminster sides in their respective Francis Clark Devon league games on the second Saturday of June.
The 1st XI suffered a167 run mauling at the hands of hosts Lewdown.
The home team batted first and declared on 256-5. Dan Fuzzard and Nick Taylor each bagged two wickets.
Axminster were then bundled out for 89 with only Tristan Wakeley (29) and Sam Farrows (26no) providing real resistance.
The defeat sees Paul Miller’s men slip to third bottom and they are a mere three points of the basement side Tavistock who happen to be the visitors to Cloakham Lawns this coming Saturday.
No joy either for the 2nd XI, but they did put up a sterling effort against all-conquering Exeter III who eventually claimed a four wicket win. Sam Dibling (26), Bradley Cross (16) and Danny Bicknell (16) provided the bulk of the runs in a total of 123.
Dave Gadsden then claimed 3-52 as the visitors got home on 124-6.
On Saturday the 2nd XI make the short trip to Uplyme and Lyme Regis.
The third XI managed to dig out a losing draw at Kilmington II where they closed on 119-5 in reply to the hosts 234-8. Peter Lawson hit an unbeaten 56 and Emily Broad struck 17 after she had also claimed 3-36.
Next up for Peter Kai’s side is a home game against Topsham St James II.
