Axmouth United served up some clinical finishing as they beat Dunkeswell Rovers 6-2 to maintain their Division Five promotion challenge.
With a number of regular players missing, United boss Laurie Forino made his first start for over a year and it was he who supplied the perfectly weighted pass for Hughes to fire United ahead.
Five minutes before the break the lead was doubled when Berry latched onto a Sandman pass to tuck the ball away.
There was still time for Hughes and Sandman to spurn further chances whilst, at the other end, keeper James Goodhew was rounded by a Dunks player who could not find the target and United took a 2-0 lead into the break.
Nine minutes after the restart the Dunks struck back with a long range shot that gave Goodhew no chance. Three minutes later the two goal cushion was restored when a Mike Challis pass set up Sandman to make it 3-1.
Reece Hales then set up Sandman to make it 4-1 before the visitors struck their second.
Two goals in as many late minutes added gloss to the game for United with Hughes and Man of the Match Chris Bowles finding the net.
Forino said: “This was a solid performance today. We clearly learnt from then previous weeks mistakes and took our chances clinically. Hopefully we can maintain this level of performance over the remainder of the season and that may just be enough to bag us the coveted promotion berth we so cherish.”
