Beer show too much respect and lose at Heavitree Social United

The Fishermen did not deserve to end up beaten by a four goal margin.

That was the view of boss Phil Crabb who said: “The score does flatter them (Heavitree) somewhat. Make no mistake they are a good team, but we were again the masters of our own downfall and I seem to be saying that a lot this season! We did not start well and, as a result of showing the hosts far too much respect, we left ourselves with too much to do. When we did get into the game we were easily their equals. We need to start games in the same way we seem to be playing once we are in trouble!”

Richard Walker netted the Beer goal in the second half.

On Saturday Crabb and his men face an equally tough task as they travel to second in the table Hatherleigh Town who won 3-0 when the sides met at Furzebrake in December.

Crabb says: “We did well against them at our place, but again it was a case of not taking our chances. Hopefully that will not be the case on Saturday and we may well see a more favourable outcome.”
