Honiton’s club championship beat the bad weather and the John Adams Scratch Trophy went to Mark Gillard with a 36 hole score of 145 leaving James Drew (147) in second place but winning the McClydemont Cup with the best handicap score, writes Andy Wagner.
Dan Noar was third with a gross 155. In the ladies’ 36 hole championship Elizabeth Ward won with a two round gross of 187 just beating Jackie Seagar's 189. The Seniors Ron Blatchford Trophy was won by John Dickinson.
●Last week’s monthly medal escaped the storm clouds too with Ed Reece (69) triumphing ahead of Stuart Slater (71) and Pete Bonetta (73) in Div1. Div 2 saw Tim Morris (71) hold off Malcolm Matthews (72) and Steve Charlton (73).
Seniors Captain's Prize
The Seniors Captain's Prize competition attracted 71 entrants who played a Stableford round in dry weather for a change. Only three players managed to score better than nett par.
The winner was Peter Blake with 40 points. Runner-up John Ward scored 39 and third place man Bob Bilyard made 37.
The other three prize winners came in with 35 points. They were Ron Rogers, John Dickinson and Bob Underwood. They all received vouchers of their choice.
There were 13 birdies in total, two of them being scored by Ron Craig, all winning golf balls.
