He made the best score of the day and, under the winter handicap rules, he was shown a red card so must play the rest of the winter season with a handicap reduction of two.

His fellow-competitors showed their sympathy with a round of applause. Bob now knows what to expect during the next 12 months. The first division was won by Ron Graham with 37 points. Malcolm Matthews came second beating Dave Maggs on countback. John Discombe and Bob Cleal took the last prizes.

Underwood’s 39 best of the day won him division two, beating Steve Blundell, Norrie Fleet, Ron Rogers and Phil Faulkner.

Ron Cooper scored the only two and won 36 balls to share with his partners. The best shot of the day came from Malcolm Matthews who holed a 130 yard approach shot to make a birdie on the 15th.
