Seaton Town Under 10s

Seaton Town FC U10s played their first matches of the New Year, against Tiverton Moors Eagles and Moors Falcons.

The first match was against Moors Eagles which are the stronger of the two Tiverton sides. The game was competitive and evenly matched with Seaton managing to score midway through the second half with a well struck shot from Oliver Ryton. Seaton held on to this lead and won the game 1-0.

The second match was against Moors Falcons who scored seconds before the half time whistle. Shortly into the second half they led 2-0. Seaton started to get more control with some good passing moves and scored through Reece McCabe. The match ended with an Oliver Ryton shot beating the Falcons’ goalie but hitting the goal post. Final score 2-1 to Moors Falcons.

Playing at West Hill this week, Honiton U9s were up against Central City (lost 3-2) and United from Exeter (3-0), writes Stuart Ward.

In the first game versus City, Honiton played some excellent football with several examples of great passing between Dan Loosemore, Caleb Freemantle and Laura-Beth Outram catching the eye. They pulled back from 2-0 down with two from Freemantle but conceded a third. Shane White played well in defence.

●Game 2 against United saw Matthew Beviss take another turn in goal where his excellent handling was a feature. Honiton again played neat football but were unable to take the chances created by their attacking passages of play. With Oliver Turl and Matthew Ward in particular unlucky with shots going wide and saved by the keeper.

the game ended in a 3-0 defeat.

Honiton's next games see them visit Colyton on Saturday 28th January.

honiton Town FC U13s enjoyed a a 7-3 league victory over Seaton A on Sunday, writes Richard Ayres.

to say they made hard work of it was a under statement. The result should have been well out of Seaton's reach within the first 10 minutes of the game, but countless missed chances and the fact that Seaton scored first, summed up what could have led to Honiton dropping their first points of the campaign.

the first half finished at 2-2. A few stern words to Honiton’s players didn’t seem to make any change for the first five minutes of the half but then they nudged ahead taking a 4-2 lead. The game finally finished 7-3 with goals from Blake Freemantle(4), Robbie Tucker, Isaac Williams and Man of the Match Keiren Pike, who made the difference, getting the other goal.

Honiton 13s 7 , Seaton A 3

Seaton A were first to score with a cracking goal from Lewis Cottam. Honiton came back fast. Possession was even for both teams and Ollie Binion came back to put Seaton in the lead again but by half time the score was 2-2.

The second half was a struggle with the pitch churned up. Thomas Driver in goal had his work cut out.

With the Seaton team tiring Honiton kept up the attack. Ollie Binion scored a second goal for Seaton but by then the score was too much to chase.
This leaves Seaton still joint third in the league and ready for the next round of cup games away to Willand Res next weekend.
The whole team played with good commitment but as the majority of Seaton A are a year younger than their opponents, this season was always going to be a learning curve. The Man of the Match was Thomas Driver, who was brilliant and fearless in goal and Ollie Binion who shows outstanding play and covered the whole field.
