Not wanting to disappoint, the Lacemen started well, but it was the Mid Devon side that opened the scoring slotting an early penalty.

The score boosted the visitor nerves and their confidence clearly grew. The contest continued with both sides enjoying equal share of possession and territory until Crediton found a gap in the Lacemens defence to score an unconverted try.

Honiton chose to slow the game down and play with a little more patience. The ball was played out to the wing where Will Tyres, with an impressive gallop up the left side, crossed the Crediton line to leave Honiton 8-5 down at half-time.

With the infamous slope on their side after the break the Lacemen changes the structure of their game.

However, as was the case in the first period, the visitors struck with a try to extend their lead. Honiton regrouped quickly and slowed things down. Gorge Dowse brought them back into the game as he crossed following a little help from the forwards and Ross Oaten added the extra’s struck to close the gap to three points.

After more end-to-end action Angus Meadows crossed following some dominant scrummaging and the try put Honiton ahead for the first time in the match.

The Allhallows crowd began to play their part and some text book rugby landed a brilliant try as the Lacemen marched over with a huge driving maul to widen the point’s gap further with the try of the match, which was again converted by young Oaten.

The visitors responded well and scored another try to make it 24-22 in Honiton’s favour and set up a frantic last few minutes. However, the home side dug deep, defended superbly and the semi-final berth at stake was by another Wright try out side.

The young Lacemen will now meet Tavistock for a place in the final.
