Axminster CC preparing for another Francis Clark Devon League campaign

19:28 19 March 2014

Axminster Town Cricket Club has started its winter nets in preparation for the new season in April.

The sessions are on Friday nights from 6pm at Colyton Leisure Centre until April 6, after which they will move outside at Cloakham Lawns.

The Club runs two sides with the 1st team playing in the Devon Cricket League B division and the 2nds playing in C division.

The 2013 season was a very successful one for Axminster Town CC, with both teams being promoted. They are now looking forward to building on that success by welcoming new players of all ages and abilities.

Chairman Peter Kiy said: “Everyone at the club is excited by the challenge of a higher standard for both teams. We have been very pleased with the turn out at nets so far and the club feels vibrant. Fingers crossed for similar weather to last year!”

The club also has a thriving colts section with an ECB registered coach led by Dan Murnane. Murnane is an ECB Level 3 coach who is a key member of the coaching staff at the Centre of Excellence at Somerset County Cricket Club, he is supported at Axminster CC by a number of qualified ECB Level 1 and level 2 coaches
