Uplyme and Lyme Regis II were three wicket winners when they travelled to meet Countess Wear II.

On a hot sultry day Uplyme were asked to bowl first on a good-looking track.

Undeterred they went about their business in a workman like fashion. Openers Wallace Blackmore and Wesley Holmes bowled excellently keeping a good length and line and forcing mistakes from the Wear batsmen. Holmes struck first when he forced the Mark Boley onto the back foot and bowled him through the gate. He then had number three, Jack Heaver, caught in the covers by Henry Perry.

Not to be left out Blackmore continued with his accurate spell that returned figures of nine overs, four maidens, three for 28.

With wickets from veteran spinner Steve Howe Wear looked dead and buried on 52 for 8.

They managed to resurrect themselves somewhat thanks mainly to a fine knock of 52 from number nine batsman P Singh, ably supported by I Singh and then S Page he took the score up to 125 before he was last man out.

The Uplyme innings started disastrously with three of the top four going without scoring!

However, Dave Norman can count himself very unlucky to have been adjusted caught behind!

Henry Perry rode his luck to score 21 before being caught and bowled by I Singh.

The final rescue act came from the Holmes family with the support of Man of the Match Wallace Blackmore. First, brothers Wesley (22) and Daley (17), withstood some unsavoury verbal’s to take the score into the eighties and this stand was followed by another between Rodney Holmes, who contributed an unbeaten 22, and helped Blackmore, 13 not out, take Uplyme over the line for their fifth victory of the season.
