Uplyme Under-15s were comfortable seven wicket winners in their opening West Dorset Junior League match of the season.

Martinstown opted to bat first and got off to a flyer reaching 25 without loss.

Captain Rhys Davies then brought himself on to bowl and promptly claimed the wicket of one opener aided by a catch by wicketkeeper Luke Johnson and the skipper sent the next man in straight back after his stumps were knocked over!

Martinstown recovered, but once one of their number departed having reached the compulsory retirement score of 35, Tyler Wellman joined the attack and he helped to slow the run rate whilst also claiming a brace of wickets.

The late introduction of off spinner Daley Holmes rounded things off as he took three wickets for four runs in two overs and the innings closed on 62-7.

The Uplyme reply was launched by Tyler Wellman who cracked his first delivery faced through midwicket for four followed by another four and a six over square leg! He was eventually out for a belligerent 31. Martinstown fought back and took two more quick wickets including skipper Rhys Davies for a duck.

It was left to Wesley Holmes (15no) and Harry Felgate (5no), to see Uplyme to victory with seven wickets and nine overs to spare.
