Two of the East Devon ladies teams qualified for the knockout stages of the Devon County inter club competitions last week, writes Helen Chivers.

The Still Cup team secured their place in the semi-finals of the Silver Division scratch competition with an excellent away win at Torquay on Monday.

Five-and-a-half to one-and-a-half victory meant they topped their division by winning five out of six matches against Bigbury, Thurlestone and Torquay. The Still Cup semi-finals will be at Staddon Heights Golf Club on August 29.

The Sheelah Creasy team are well on the way to retaining their Bronze Division trophy – topping their division to qualify for the quarter finals at Torquay Golf Club on August 22.

Although they lost their final division match, they had already done enough to secure their quarter final place with four wins and one halved match against Churston, Royal North Devon and Tavistock.

The Presidents Trophy team have one division match left to play in their Silver Division handicap competition, and a win would see them through to the quarter finals at Holsworthy Golf Club on August 18.

Theirs has been a closely fought division against Dainton Park, Saunton and Downes Crediton and so far the team have won four matches and halved one; their final match is at home against Saunton.
