Details for the forthcoming season and entry forms are not yet on the www.pra.gb.com website but will be shortly - no panic as our first race inthe D and C area is not until February 5, but don’t forget to get your pony registered with the PRA in early January.

We hope your qualifying is going well and you are enjoying your hunting.

Entries in the D and C area will all be taken by Mrs Claire Hitch, Barn Lane Farm, Stoke Rivers, Barnstaple, EX32 7LD.

When you make your first entry with us you must include a full photocopy of your pony’s passport and height certificate (if applicable). Entries close on the previous Saturday ie a week before the race whether the race be on Saturday, Sunday or Monday and must be received by post with a signed entry form.

After the first entry, you only need to send the entry form, signed by the parent, and £15 cheque (made out to the host hunt).

It is possible to pre-enter and many parents enter a lot of races in one go to avoid missing an entry deadline. Please make sure Claire has an email address with your entry as we send all our race details via email to save on postage.

We will send a list of times with the entries. Please do not be late. We rely on course walkers and stewards giving up their time to help. They will often have left home early to get there on time and there is no excuse for lateness. If there is a particular reason you are late - breakdown/road closure etc then please ring ahead to Lee Glanville - make a note of her mobile which will be on the info sent to you - and we will do everything to help you. If it’s just that you got up late, then we won’t be bending over backwards to help and you may find that you are unable to run your pony.

If races are over subscribed we will have to ballot. The starting point will be to ballot anyone with two rides entered. The entry from the oversubscribed race will be balloted unless owners note a preference on the entry form. (If you think a race may be oversubscribed please liaise with Claire prior to the race closing).

The PRA rule is one rider/one ride per day but we allow a rider to ride in both divisions 138 and 148 in the D and C area, if we have room to do so.

If we have no double entered riders, then those from the furthest away will be balloted first.

Championship points will be decided on best eight results to make sure balloting out does not affect the title races.

So now it is the hard graft weeks, leading up to full on gallop work in January. We hope you are looking forward to the new season as much as well are. Make a note of our Facebook page - Devon and Cornwall Pony Racing - as all last minute news will go straight on there.
