Ladies’ Night at Exeter Racecourse on Tuesday May 6 is when the glitz and glamour of racing descend on Haldon Hill and with fabulous prizes to win for the best dressed ladies and gentleman it’s a date not to be missed, writes Lucy Johnson.

For those wanting to make it an extra special night, enjoy a luxury racecourse picnic for £49 per person or £450 per table of ten, and then indulge in some free experiences with Amanda Marsden Aveda Lifestyle Salon in Exeter. There is also 25 per cent off all tickets purchased prior to midnight on Friday, May 2, and grandstand and paddock tickets are just £10 per person for groups of ten or more.

Dress to your best and win a three-night stay for four in a luxury self-catering cottage at Gara Rock, East Portlemouth, South Devon. Gara Rock has both indoor and outdoor swimming pools and is set on the rugged cliff tops of the South Hams just a stone’s throw from Rickham Beach where Enid Blyton drew inspiration for her Famous Five stories. Its breathtaking location will provide memories for a lifetime.

There are £100s worth of prizes to win from Leonard Coombe Master Saddlers and Country Life, a vast shop in Newton Abbot providing everything for both the horse and country lover with many of the top brands stocked including Dubarry, Barber, Ariat, Joules and Musto.

There are experiences to enjoy and products to indulge in at Amanda Marsden Aveda Lifestyle Salon, Exeter where winners will feel totally transformed in a special environment.

For males there’s a two-night stay at the Arundell Arms, voted the Best Tourism Business in Southwest England in the 2013 Western Morning News Business Awards.

There are also fabulous hampers to win, courtesy of Devon Hampers which specializes in food that represents the best of the county.

General manager Tim Darby said: “We have some incredible prizes this season for the best dressed ladies and gentlemen and with a range of other activities as well, including a disco, ladies’ night at the races is a date not to be missed.”

A rodeo bull and surf board simulator look set to entertain, while the six exciting races feature the prestigious final of the Intermediate Point to Point series, the culmination of 10 qualifying races held across the Devon and Cornwall area.

The first race gets under starters orders at 5.50pm. A free bus to the racecourse leaves Exeter St Davids at 4.15pm and Exeter Bus and Coach Station at 4.30pm and returns 30 minutes after the last race.
