Taunton host the Bathwick Tyres this coming Saturday (January 20) when the card boasts almost £79k in prize money and includes one Class 2 and two Class 3 events with the first race due off at 12.30pm, writes Richard Walsh.

The management at Taunton racecourse are once again very grateful for the continued generous support of Bathwick Tyres, who contribute so much to racing in the South West.

Saturday racing at the Orchard Portman has attracted an increasing following, so a large crowd is expected to go along and enjoy the action.

First up is The Bathwick Tyres British EBF ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle Race over two miles and three furlongs, which is followed by The Bathwick Tyres Taunton Steeple Chase (A Novices’ Limited Handicap) over two miles at 1pm.

The next race is The Bathwick Tyres Bath Novices’ Hurdle Race half an hour later over two miles and half a furlong.

The first of the Class 2 events, The Bathwick Tyres Yeovil Steeple Chase (A Novices’ Limited Handicap) over two miles seven furlongs is worth £9,357 to the winner and is due off at 2pm.

This is followed half an hour later by the big event of the day, The Bathwick Tyres Senior’s Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 2), over two miles three furlongs, which has a prize pot of a cool £18,500.

The day’s action concludes with the second of the Class 3 races, The Bathwick Tyres Bridgwater Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles, which starts at 3pm.

Racegoers are reminded that they can take advantage of the considerable discounts that are available by purchasing their tickets in advance online before 10am on the day of racing by logging onto www.tauntonracecourse.co.uk

A courtesy coach service departs from Taunton Railway Station two hours before the off, returning from the course 30 minutes after the start of the last race.
