Exe Equestrian club chairperson Collette Ashby Crane welcomed members and guests to the club’s 2013 AGM.
She reported on a season that had got off to a good start with the first event of the year, the Spring Pleasure Ride, being graced by beautiful weather.
All three of the club’s events held at Nutwell Court, the Novice Shows and the Open Show, took place in hot weather and in each case entry numbers were very good.
There was also a further pleasure ride that took place in the summer which also attracted excellent numbers.
Unfortunately the final two events planned for Bicton College had to be cancelled owing to a lack of numbers.
Many positives ideas were floated around during the meeting and the treasurer Mrs Lee, was able to report that the club has a healthy bank balance heading into 2014.
Following the formalities of the meeting the junior awards were presented.
The leading award for top junior went to Charlotte Timms with Jessica Boulton and Rebekah Radford taking second and third place respectively.
The other placings, from fourth to joint eighth went to; Rachel Brown, Milly Pring, Sophie Inglis, Francesca Lawrence, William Charlton and Milly Parr (the latter two sharing eighth place).
The senior award winner was Alice Crawford with Rea Lerwill taking second and Sue Forte third. The minor placings went to Amanda Williams (fourth), Jenny Brown (fifth), Claire Hawkins and Alison Thornton (joint sixth) and Zoe Hodgeson (seventh).
Following the awards everyone tucked into jacket potatoes, sausages and beans for supper.
The next event for the club is a Fun Quiz Night on Tuesday, November 12 at the Cat and Fiddle Inn at Clyst St Mary with a 7.30pm start. Then questions will be both equine related and general knowledge. Everyone is most welcome to join in the fun.
