A stoppage time equaliser by Elliot Richards salvaged a point on Saturday for City, with a 2-2 draw against Dagenham and Redbridge, writes Richard Tuson.
It was the second goal for the 22-year-old since joining the club on loan from Bristol Rovers back at the beginning of February.
Tom Nichols had put Exeter ahead in the first half, when he connected onto Matt Grimes miss hit shot.
But the ‘Daggers’ equalised through Luke Norris and then took the lead when Medy Elito converted from the penalty spot.
However, Richards came to the rescue with his last minute strike that was timed at five minutes and 12 seconds into injury time!
Tuesday night saw Exeter at home again against Northampton Town. Northampton, although second from bottom, had recorded a surprise 1-1 draw away at second placed Scunthorpe at the weekend. Unfortunately the game saw Northampton take all three points through Ian Morris’ 56 minute volley.
The harsh reality is that it leaves City third from bottom three points clear of the relegation zone and only seven points better off than bottom placed Torquay and without a home win since October 5.
However, putting a positive spin on matter, City are still only three points shy of the seven clubs immediately above them in the League Two table and there’s much to play for so now is the time to really get behind the Grecians.
This Sunday sees Exeter travel to South Wales to take on Newport County which the East Devon Grecians are running a transport to. For this and more information about the EDG’s please look at our website at www.eastdevongrecians.com.
Come on you reds! Keep the faith!
