With sponsor money still rolling in following Exeter City’s Santa Dash in December, club officials are delighted to announce that the 1 mile fun run has netted over £4,000 for local good causes and charities to date.
The Exeter City charity Santa Dash attracted 311 runners, all of whom were raising money for a number of good causes and charities including the Adam Stansfield Foundation, Devon Air Ambulance, Help the Hero’s and many more.
Event organiser David Evans was delighted with the support given to the festive fundraiser, and remained hopeful that the total amount raised for good causes would continue to rise.
“To date we have collected sponsor money totalling £4,117,” he said. “We remain hopeful that with a few more people still to pay their sponsor money, this total will grow even further.”
£600 of that money collected so far is for the Adam Stansfield Foundation and at half-time during Monday’s clash with Yeovil David handed over a cheque to Adam’s wife Marie, sons Jay and Taylor and Foundation chairman Andy Cole.
Participants who have still to pay their sponsor money can pay at the Club Reception behind the Flybe stand, or post cheques (payable to Exeter City Football in the Community) to David Evans, Exeter City FC, St James Park, Exeter, EX4 6PX.
As a community owned football club, Exeter City is proud of its fundraising endeavours, which have already seen the Trust owned club raise over £10,000 for charities through holding match day bucket collections.
Chairman of the Supporters’ Trust Andy Cole, was delighted with the fundraising efforts of his club, the success of which he has attributed to the strong sense of community fostered at the community owned club.
Andy said: “Exeter City Football Club recognises the importance of supporting local good causes and charities, many of whom rely upon donations and volunteers for their survival.
“As a community owned football club, we are delighted with the support we have been able to give to charities over the last few years, which in the face of the current economic climate is truly remarkable and in my opinion, is a testament to the strong sense of community that we have developed at our fan owned football club.”
The Exeter City Supporters’ Trust are the proud owners and custodians of Exeter City Football Club, and have over 4000 members contributing to continued development of the Devon club.
