The 16-year-old, racing for the GB team was first in a 160-strong fleet of kiteracers from over 40 countries.

There were five days of racing.

The teenager was fourth overall in the men’s division and just a few points behind the current world champion, Johnny Heineken from the USA.

It’s been a big year for the youngster for he has dominated kiteracing in England and Europe becoming Men’s European Champion this summer in Italy.

He is currently in Western Australia for the Oceanics after which he will return to Exmouth to train for the 2014 campaign.

Kiteracing will be part of the ISAF (international Sailing Federation) World Cup series in 2014 and there is hope that it will be represented in the 2018 Youth Olympics.

A bid to see the GB National Kite Race Championships in Exmouth in 2014 has recently been submitted.

This will be in partnership with local sponsor Atass and Pebblebed wines, organised by Edgewatersports.
