In their final match of the Section Three men’s County Trophy League the Feniton bowlers were in good form and secured an 80-63 success over Seaton, writes Roger Smith.

The win means that Feniton will finish second in the league and that takes them into the last 16 in the county wide competition.

The winning Feniton rinks were those of; C Maynard, D Downs, J Skinner and I Veitch (25-6), D Sanders, R Smith, R Clarke and A Smith (21-16) and R Lovering, E Cox, R Binmore and K Lovering (24-20).

Unfortunately, the men were unable to repeat a similar success when they met Madeira in the Section Three final of the Foxlands, with the victory going to the Exmouth-based side.

There was success for both the Feniton Over-60s Triples League teams. The B team went top of the Division Five table with a 32-30 win over North Tawton.

In this match the winning rink was the one of C Maynard, L Ley and R Clarke (21-13).

Meanwhile, the A team continued their climb up the table with a 42-30 win against Belmont, with the winning rinks being: J Livings, G Phillips and J Skinner (26-17) and D Sanders, A Smith and R Smith (21-14).

There was also a win against Belmont for the ladies in an Over-50s League encounter that Feniton won 42-30. The winning rinks were: A Pritchard, A Coyne and J Smith (23-14) and V Murdoch, D Bowden and D Phillips (19-16).

The mixed team enjoyed a resounding73-45 victory over visitors Exonia. The winning rinks were J Livings, S Kury and A Kury (24-7), P Bright, R Smith and J Smith (23-9) and L Ley, D Downs and D Philips (16-14).

During the tea interval, Rodney Spiller of Rodney Spiller Wealth Management Ltd, one of the club’s main sponsors, presented the club with a set of steps to allow ease of access to the green.

He also presented all the players with bowls’ clothes as well as providing sufficient bowls clothes for all members of the club.

Last, but certainly not least, congratulations to R Veitch, J Skinner and I Veitch who have been crowned as mixed triples champions of Section Three. They will now play in the last 16 of this County wide competition.
