Feniton men rediscover the winning touch

Feniton men’s team rediscovered their form in defeating Sidmouth in the County Trophy competition by 87-58, writes Roger Smith.

The winning rinks were R Cooke, S Goodenough, A Evans and P Spreadbury (27-13), D Sanders, E Cox, I Veitch and A Kury (24-16) and C Maynard, G Phillips, J Skinner and D Coyne (17-16).

However, they disappointingly lost narrowly to visitors Chardstock in the Top Club by three rinks to two.

The winning rinks were A Kury and K Lovering (22-11) and A Smith, R Cooke and P Spreadbury (19-15).

In the men’s over 60s triples league the A team defeated Culm Vale C by 40-25. The winning rinks were D Sanders, A Evans and P Edmonds (23-11) and E Cox, A Smith and R Smith (17-15).

The B team also achieved maximum points in defeating Belmont B by 44-36. The winning rinks were L Ley, G Phillips and R Clarke (23-16) and T Young, C Maynard and D Evans (21-20).

The ladies had a mixed week in their competitions. In their NBTL match against Crediton they lost by 27-32. The winning rink was J Smith, A Coyne and G North (17-15). In their two EDL matches they lost to Topsham by 24 shots to 50, but returned to form to defeat Crediton 44-35. The winning rinks were R Clarke, A Coyne, J Smith and C Granger (23-18) and G Blackmore, J Evans, D Phillips and R Veitch (21-17).

The mixed team, in their only match of the week, defeated Heavitree by 97-72. The winning rinks were A Pritchard, D Sanders, A Smith and A Kury (28-8), J Evans, J Rolph, G Skinner and D Evans (22-8) and M Evans, S Kury, R Cooke and K Lovering (22-16).
