Feniton were once again left wondering what they have done to upset the cricketing gods.
Not for the first time this season the Acland Park side got the raw end of the deal as rain washed out their hopes of playing what was seen as a massive encounter in their bid to effect a great escape from the D Division relegation berths.
With the Mid Devon outfit sitting third bottom, 11 points clear of Feniton, it was a contest that offered the Acland Park men a real chance to get the precious victory that would have lifted them out of the bottom two.
The same happened when they met second bottom Countess Wear with the rains coming to the Exeter side’s rescue.
It all means that, with two games to play and a maximum of 44 points to play for, Feniton remain a dozen points from safety and now need to win both their last two games and hope for favourable results elsewhere.
Saturday’s challenge comes in the shape of a trip to promotion-chasing Seaton which they follow with a last day Acland Park meeting with Ashburton.
The teams they need to finish above to avoid playing in the E Division next season, are Countess Wear, Halberton and Sampford Peverell and Honiton.
Countess Wear end with a trip to champions Clyst Hydon and then host Seaton. Halberton and Sampford Peverell entertain Honiton and then travel to Uplyme whilst Honiton have that trip to Halberton and Sampford Peverell before hosting Shaldon the week after.
