The punishment comes after the club were penalised for fielding a suspended player in a couple of games that they were unaware that he was suspended!

In a Cup tie earlier in the season keeper Matt Kingdom was dismissed late in the match against Phoenix that the Blues won 3-0.

The sending’s-off were not then reported to the County FA, and, as Blues boss Mark Kingdom says that was seemingly the end of the matter: “Both myself and the Phoenix Manager were under the impression that the sending’s-off were not going to be sent through, we’ve all seen similar in the past in the game where a match official feels a red card was perhaps a tad harsh and not submitted. It seems that someone has then reported the matter and the referee has been asked why the red cards were not reported as per rule. The poor old official picked up a ban whilst ourselves and Phoenix fell foul of a new rule this season whereby teams are apparently to suspend their own player for any red card offence for a period of 21 days if they have not heard from the FA within 10 days of the offence! We failed to do that, as did Phoenix and we have both paid a very heavy price. The crazy thing is has someone phoned us and said we couldn’t play Matt in the games, we would not have played him, but we were genuinely under the impression that the red cards had not been put into the system! I am hugely disappointed as it seems a very harsh penalty, and I know our Secretary Mel Mead has returned a Rose Bowl to the County FA that was awarded to him for 25 plus years of service to the game as a result of his displeasure at it all. It is a big blow to us and leaves us with work to do to again cement a top three berth, but we are good enough to do that and, driven by what we see as a sense of injustice, I am sure we’ll still end in the top three and I am not ruling us out of the title race either.”
