Beer Albion were edged out in a close encounter with Barnstaple Town at Furzebrake.
Such has been the Fishermen’s home form this term that the 1-0 defeat to Barum was only their third reversal at Furzebrake since August.
Boss Phil Crabb said: “It was a dour tussle in which both teams did very good jobs of cancelling each other out. It was certainly one of those games that you just know the first team to break the deadlock would win, and by that one goal. Unfortunately for us they got it!”
This Saturday Crabb leads his men to Seaton Town for the much anticipated East Devon derby. When the pair met at Beer the week before Christmas the Fishermen recorded a much deserved 2-0 victory.
Crabb says: “The players always look forward to this particular fixture. It may well be that our December victory goes against us for I fear that Town, who are a very good team, may well be a wounded beast going into this re-match. We shall have to see!”
Beer have a clean bill of health for the Seaton game and may even have a few fresh legs available from players who have been away holidaying.
