Sampford Peverell 0, Awliscombe 1

The Awls were good value for a sixth win in eight Division Five outings.

It was also a third successive clean sheet and the Awls have now gone almost five hours since they last shipped a goal, that in a 2-0 defeat to all-conquering table topping Cheriton Fitzpaine.

Pete Nelson kept his second straight clean sheet and the other glovesman to have a shut-out in the current run is Mark Russell.

The Awls goal at Sampford Peverell came in the second half with Stephen Williams providing the assist and Nick Trenchard finding the back of the net.

It was not all good news on the sides Mid Devon trip for they have lost the services of the influential Jack Layzell for the next couple of weeks after he limped out of the action with a pulled hamstring.

On Saturday Awliscombe entertain fourth bottom Lapford who have one win in four, that being their last away game when they won 2-0 at another of the struggling sides, Uplowman Athletic.
