Archant

Beer Albion’s usually weather resistant home of Furzebrake was once again fit for play on yet another soggy Saturday when action was called off at all but two Fresha League venues.

However, the surface might have been able to stage the scheduled Premier Division meeting between the Fishermen and visiting Clyst Valley, but the elements were not to be denied!

Both sets of players had changed ready for action, but once all together on the pitch it was clear to referee John Furness that standing up was going to be mighty difficult in the face of gal force winds and he was left with no option but to return the teams to the dressing room and postpone the match!

Beer, who have to date played exactly half of their 30-game Fresha Premier League season, will now hope for a break in the weather so that they can get back to action.

Over the next 12 weeks they must play 13 games to complete their league programmed which means not too many midweek dates yet. However, if the wet weather continues there may be plenty of games in a short space of time for all concerned at the club.

The first of those remaining games is on Saturday at Topsham Town where a Fisherman’s win will lift them above the Tops and out of the Fresha League bottom three.
