Honiton took on two friendly matches to get the U8s’ team back playing after the bad weather lay-off, writes Garry Osborne.
Millwey Rise 5, Honiton FC U8s 0
Millwey Rise 2, Honiton FC U8s 3
They got off to a slow start before finding their feet with good work from Ben Mottram, Bailey Williams and Tyler Pendrick, and Harry Smith, but went down 5-0.
In the second game Honiton kept the work rate going with some great work from Jack Beaven and Isaac Lidster but trailed 1-0.
Honiton kept up the work rate in the second half again and Liam Osborne ran through and finished really well to make it 1-1.
Soon it was 2-1 when Liam Osborne won a tackle well and set Mason Doble up who scored low down but Honiton ran out of steam and the game finished 3-2 to Millwey Rise.
Mason Doble got Man of the Match but everyone played well and never gave up and the whole team should be proud of their effort.
Thank you to Millwey Rise for putting on the game so late in the week; it was great to see the kids getting some football after all this bad weather.
