Honiton Demons Under-10s battle superbly in cup defeat at Exmouth

08:32 16 January 2014

Exmouth United 5, Honiton Demons 0

Honiton Demons Under-10s went out of the Exeter and District Youth League Cup, but put up a sterling performance before being beaten.

Despite not playing for a month the Demons started well. Connor Richards, Lee Pullman and Elliot Holdsworth were dominant in the opening exchanges and, had it not been for a lack of composure in front of goal, would have been ahead in the early exchanges.

The defence of Josh Edwards, Aidan Manville and Jake Mabbutt were restricting the home side to speculative long-shots.

Unfortunately, just before half time, one of those shots from distance squirmed past Harry Horn in the Demons goal.

A sluggish start to the second half was the Demons downfall as they quickly conceded a second to leave themselves having to chase the game.

This left a very good home side able to pick them off and they did just that adding three more goals to finish conclusive winners.

Connor Harrison, James Pring and Ross Hurford were all introduced in the second half and played their parts.

The whole team were awarded the Man of the Match honour for their collective efforts and fabulous attitude throughout.

Thanks are also due to the parents for all their wonderful support for the team.
