Honiton 3, Countess Wear 2

Honiton Under-16s began the game with ten players and fell behind to an early goal.

The arrival of Harry Leisk saw Honiton back to a full eleven, but the visitors continued to control proceedings and soon doubled their lead before the break.

After the break Honiton seemed to have an extra yard in their step and got back in the game thanks to a superb goal from Leisk.

The equaliser arrived when a free-kick from Blake Freemantle was headed home by Ross Broom. Both teams then went in search of a third goal and it was Honiton who got it when Freemantle used his pace to take the ball around the keeper and roll tit into the net.

In the closing staffed Countess Wear threatened to level, but were denied first by a splendid save by Honiton keeper Jack Broom and the by a magnificent last-ditch challenge by influential skipper Owen McCreadie-Taylor. Everyone involved on the day for Honiton played their part in what proved to be a richly deserved success.
