EXETER & DISTRICT YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE – Under 11s Division 2

Twyford 3, Seaton U11s 1

Seaton lost their league cup game last weekend to a very good Sidmouth side 8-1. So this weekend they needed to pick themselves up as they faced Tiverton side Twyford Spartans in their next league game, writes Anthony Hellier.

In the first half the teams were evenly matched with Twyford scoring first and Seaton equalising quickly through an Alfie Bullmore goal, the first half ending 1-1.

The second half was even, until a controversial penalty decision 10 minutes from time. Twyford scored from it to lead 2-1. Seaton had to try and push forward to get the equaliser, but Twyford counter attacked and scored a late goal to beat Seaton 3-1. Seaton Man of the Match was Drew Ado-Smith.

Honiton FC U14s 8, Millwey Rise 1

Honiton travelled to Millwey Rise on Sunday and enjoyed a comfortable 8-1 win, writes Richard Ayres.

Performance was the order of the day. Goals were scored by Robbie Tucker, 2, Will Bennett 2, Blake Freemantle, Ben Nursey, Harry Leisk and an own goal.

There were a few decent performances by the Honiton boys, but they all know that they will need to work harder next week, when top side Colyton travel to Town.

The second game saw Honiton trail by two against Dawlish Madrid but they kept going and just before half time Jacob England scored. The second half saw Harry Smith score. Ben Motram got Man of the Match for making some great saves in goal Tyler Pendrick was Player of the Day for his outstanding tackling hard work and team play thank you to Dawlish for being great hosts and well done to everyone for another great morning’s football.

Cullompton Rangers 6, Honiton U10s 0

West Hill Wasps 3, Honiton U10s 1

On a wet and muddy pitch, Honiton started slowly against Rangers and struggled to clear their lines, writes Stuart Ward.

Half time saw them 5-0 down but with a much improved performance in the second period Honiton managed to limit their hosts to a single additional goal. Players to stand out in the second half were Dan Loosemore and Matt Costanilla who defended stoutly.

The second match against the skilful Wasps was a closely-fought affair and a great team effort took the game right to the wire. West Hill took the lead, but Honiton kept their heads up and some lovely passing and support play saw them draw level as Will Whitmore scored. The second half was played end to end with West Hill scoring from a free kick and a late goal.

With this kind of performance, Honiton can look forward to welcoming Tiverton’s Twyford Gladiators and Spartans to Mountbatten for their next games on December 1st.
