Seaton FC Ladies 0, Ilfracombe 2

Seaton welcomed league leaders Ilfracombe to Colyford Road and were again unlucky not to pick up a point.

The first 20 minutess were even with both teams looking good, and it was Seaton who came close to opening the scoring when great football from Gould and Spiers set up Arnott whose first time shot was saved well by the keeper. Spiers had shots saved by the on-form keeper on 30 and 35mins. Going in at HT 0-0 was a great effort and proved how far the Seaton team has come over the last two years.

Ilfracombe scored on 65mins when a looping shot flew into the top corner. Seaton then gave their all to get back in it and nearly did on 75mins when a fierce half volley from Sue Campbell was going in the top corner untill the brilliant Ilfracombe keeper clawed it out. The resulting corner saw Campbell have a header cleared off the line. In the last minute it was 2-0 when Ilfracombe scored on a breakaway. Seaton manager Jamie Bond was so impressed with the team and the work rate they showed. “The points will come, maybe a bit of luck is needed to go with the good football that we are playing,” he said. Team: Jeans, Burridge, Berry, Perrin, Womersley, Cambpell, Coleman, Spiers, Lamprill, Gould, Arnott, Foxwell, Hayes, Westlake, Collins.
