Newton Poppleford Football Club held their presentation evening at The Cannon Inn, last Saturday.

At a well attended function, club sponsors David and Steve Woodley of Woodleys joinery, presented the awards.

David Woodley congratulated the club on giving a good account of themselves in Division One, despite struggling for players at various stages of the season, and for being voted the most sporting team in the Devon and Exeter league.

Inspirational team captain Matthew Tett was awarded Manager’s Player of the Year Trophy, just edging out goalkeeper Alex Bowring.

The Player’s Player trophy saw the positions reversed with Alex Bowring scooping the trophy, ahead of Tett.

Most improved Player award was a tough decision between four players; Leigh Adey, Stewart Pile, Ben Stone and Tom Clay, with the versatile Leigh Adey winning the Trophy.

The Top Goal scorer prize went to Mark ‘Skid’ Tett, and the Clubman Trophy went to a richly deserving Julie Cooper
