Archant

This current season is proving to be a difficult one for Offwell, who find themselves rock bottom of the Macron League Division Five table after 12 straight defeats.

Taking a look back at a bygone season – in particular the 1979/80 campaign – the club was very much ‘on the up’ as, at the end of that season the side were runners-up in League One of the Exeter and District Intermediate section.

Dick Sturch, who these days provides us at the Midweek Herald with regular reports on Millwey Rise, was part of that successful Offwell side.

Also in the squad in those halcyon days were: Chris Jarvis, Martin Ashford, Ian Seward, Johnny Small, Merv Blackmore, Martin England, Will Guppy, Kevin Slynn, Dave McGrath, Charlie Courtney, Paul Ashford, Andy Tunks.
