Seaton Town 3, Beer Albion 1

Seaton Town took the honours in a well-contested local derby watched by a 250 plus Colyford Road crowd.

Beer struck first with Adam Wakeley firing them ahead in the sixth minute. For the remainder of the first half much of the contest was played out in the middle third with half-chances at both ends before, shortly before the break, Town levelled through Dan Norman. Early in the second half Tom Vincent fired Town ahead and the points were sealed when 16-year-old James Hill was summoned from the bench and netted the games fourth and final goal.

The two Managers, typically, had differing opinions of the action.

Town boss Josh Stunell said: “I was very happy with the measure of control we had throughout. Such was out dominance that keeper Charlie Ledger only really had to make one meaningful first half save as well as picking the ball out of the net early on. I am very pleased with my team for in this one I saw that we do have players to match fire with fire. Sometimes it’s not all about ability and quality; it can be about winning the battles and I am very happy that we did just that and our fitness was good as we looked strong through to the finish.”

Beer boss Phil Crabb said: “I do feel the score line flattered them. For my money we ought to have been two or possibly three up before they got back level late in the first half. This one’s gone now and we simply have to focus on this Saturday’s league encounter with visitors Clyst Valley, it s a game we need to win to ease our situation at the foot of the table.”

On Saturday Town travel to Feniton and Stunell feels his side are ready for such a challenge.

He says: “We are in a good place right now and on a decent run. That said I feel we need the sort of challenge a side like Feniton will present. One thing I can see is goals, they score and conceded which is just what we do, so its goals for me at Ackland Park on Saturday.”
