Budleigh Salterton Reserves 4, Seaton Town 2

Seaton were beaten at Greenway Lane, but it was very much down to a stunning performance by the home glovesman that denied Town more than the two goals they had to show for their considerable efforts in an entertaining game, writes SpursTom.

Town lined up with former Budleigh player Michael Hancock together with his brothers Matt and Martyn, and the other Hancock, Mark, on the bench.

The hosts had the wind at their backs and made good use of this as early as the second minute when a cross-field pass sent Jack Greenslade racing down the left.

He cut inside and rifled a shot that cannoned back off the frame of the goal to Aaron Denny who tucked it past Dave Perham.

Other than that early goal there was precious little between for the next 25 minutes until a sweet strike by Greenslade doubled the home lead. The goal was a strike of real quality, but that was topped in the time left before the interval when a 35-yard hit from Karl Riddell looped over Perham to send the home side into the break with a 3-0 advantage.

Town sent on striker Jake Richards at the start of the second half, but the home team struck next, moving four goals clear when left back Reece Stevens crossed and Denny set up Callum Shipton to tuck the ball home.

Seaton never gave up the fight and deservedly reduced the arrears with Martyn Hancock scoring. There followed a lengthy period of Town dominance during which time they were denied by the excellent home goal keeper who served up a string of fine saves.

He was however, eventually beaten in the later stages of a fine game by substitute Richards.

Seaton Town: David Perham, Kieran Love, Matt Hancock, Mark Perham, Michael Hancock, Glenn Gould, James Hill, Jacob Hayes, Martyn Hancock, Alex Wheatley, Josh French, Mark Hancock and Jake Richards.

On Saturday Town entertain Thorverton in the Fresha League.
