Seaton Town Under-8s battle well in first games after a month without action

PUBLISHED: 08:32 16 January 2014 | UPDATED: 08:32 16 January 2014

Seaton Under-8s shook off the cobwebs from a month of inactivity to play two games against home opposition on an Exmouth artificial surface, writes Alan Hale.

The fact that the youngsters had been so long without a game was probably the primary reason behind them losing 3-1 and 6-0 respectively!

Despite the score lines the team competed well against very good opposition and more than held their own in the first game, with a couple of deflected goals not helping their cause. Henry Matthews is improving with every game and carried a threat all afternoon.

He was ably supported by the tireless Leo Gribble and George Gait.

The latter capped an outstanding afternoon shift by scoring a fine solo goal.
