Sidmouth Town to run trial sessions for new Under-8 team

In recent years the Sidmouth Town Junior Vikings have gone from strength to strength with the number of local youngsters able to play football on a weekly basis fast approaching 300, writes Ian Peacock.

This remarkable growth looks set to continue with the announcement that next years Under-8s will be staging open trials at Long Park on Saturday, July 5, from 10am to 11am.

The date of birth range to qualify to play in next season’s Under-8s team is any date between September 1, 2006 and August 31, 2007.

The session will begin the focus on learning and having fun.

All interested players will be made very welcome.

What’s more there’s opportunities to get make a start in the game for even younger age groups with the news that five to seven-year-olds can register their interest at Sidmouth Sports Centre. Training for the five to seven age group is every Friday during school term and is run by Chris Duchenski who will be one of those assisting with the upcoming Under-8s.
